So I thought I'd do a quick post on the whole Trump phenomena because it's interesting and so why not.
Now before I get into this post, I'd like to point out that way back on July 27 I predicted that Trump would win. I'd also like to point out that I'm no fan of Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton. I'm not pro-or-anti-Trump. My view is that the system is broken, the "people" running that system are nothing but public relations puppets. Even Bernie Sanders or Jill Stein, who I liked, were half measures in the economic-geopolitical-social pandemic the world is in.
Now, I've sat back to see what Trump will do. After all, there's no reason why he wouldn't do what he said in terms of "draining the swamp" or "making America great again". You don't have to be competent to do those things... they are matters of resolve, not intelligence; of applying and upholding the law, not blueprinting a fix to the current mess (others can do that).
That said, today Trump told us everything we need to know. He is recruiting Steve Mnuchin for Secretary of the Treasury. I encourage you to read the NPR link provided.
Yet again a Goldman Sachs exec will become Secretary of the Treasury. Also worthy of note, Steve Bannon (who essentially will be his chief of staff, if not in actual title) also worked at Goldman Sachs.
Yet again Wall Street will control, I'd argue, the most powerful position within the government. Yes, even more powerful than the president himself.
No one is sure if Mayer is who actually said this, but it is ascribed to the House of Rothschild.
The point is, though, the same people who have been planning and running the world's economic policies for decades (if not longer) have yet again been placed in the top spot - the head of the Department of the Treasury.
And not to belabor the point, but it does a lot more than what its official mandate is.
What this clearly tells us about Trump is the following:

"Give me control of a nation's money and I care not who makes it's laws" — Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild
No one is sure if Mayer is who actually said this, but it is ascribed to the House of Rothschild.

The Treasury prints and mints all paper currency and coins in circulation through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and the United States Mint. The Department also collects all federal taxes through the Internal Revenue Service, and manages U.S. government debt instruments.
And not to belabor the point, but it does a lot more than what its official mandate is.
What this clearly tells us about Trump is the following:
- He doesn't mind the "establishment" in the least
- He has no plans to drain the swamp
- He has no plans of cleaning up, much less prosecuting, the bankers who crashed the economy; in fact, he's giving them the top spots in his administration
- It was all one big fat con
In the same way the Obama acolytes believed he would bring hope and change (which he did not), the Trumpites are going to see how it feels when their savior sells them down the river.
Like I say, I haven't commented on Trump because there wasn't anything to actually comment on.
Sexism? Racism? Xenophobia? Chauvanism?
Ya, all that stuff was there in one form or another, but it was a whirlwind of hyperbolic pablum most of the time. More importantly, it's not what was going to decide what was coming down the turnpike.

Now though, Trump has clearly shown which direction he is going in and it's going to be ugly - very ugly.
Anyone hoping for an actual recovery is in for a surprise. Yes, there will be publicity stunts to make it look like progress is being made; but on the street, in REALITY, things are only going to get worse.
My prediction for the next four years:
- Increased austerity
- Increased unemployment (or alternatively decreases in wages)
- Increased wealth inequality
- Inflation
- Further transition to the police and intelligence state
- Increase in the stock market (for all the wrong reasons though)
- The public will finally wake up to the fact that true Democracy doesn't exist, nor does true capitalism - those things are gone; all that's left is a ghost of what those things once were
Could I be wrong? Of course, nothing is certain. But Trump is signaling that he's going to do everything he fought against in the campaign. The promises he made to the public mean absolutely nothing. If they did he would not surround himself with Goldman Sachs people.
Trump will go down as the greatest con man in American history; perhaps world history.
Really, the only question left regarding the Trump phenomena is whether his ability to con the public will extend throughout his presidency or whether they will catch on and all hell will break loose.
