Texas Judge beats daughter

A very disturbing video broke about a Texas family court Judge who beat his daughter. The video was released by his daughter (good for her!)

The video is very disturbing so you may not want to watch.

The judge's response to the video:

"In my mind, I haven't done anything wrong other than discipline my child after she was caught stealing," Adams said. "And I did lose my temper, but I've since apologised."



Call me liberal but this guys a classic asshole and the absolute last profession he should be in is that of a judge.

From a PR perspective he's shot himself in the foot. It's one thing if there was no video, but this video is plastered all over YouTube.

What he should have done is come right out and said his behavior was flat out wrong and that he regrets it deeply and is deeply sorry that he put his daughter through that. And in addition, he would seek to work with family abuse charities to help further shed light on the issue of  abuse in the home. Even that probably wouldn't be enough to reverse the negative public sentiment towards him, but it's the best you can do in this situation.

I think he's up a creak without a paddle on this one. I know if I bumped in to this guy on the street I'd probably cold-cock him right there and then (and I'm not an advocate of violence).

A Look Back on 2017 / A Look Forward to 2018

Hard to believe it's been two years (and six books) since I started publishing. Thought I'd take a moment to look back on the journey, some of the highlights and what's in store for the future. Eyes Wide Open I had no idea what this publishing path would be like - I went in blind with nothing more than an interest in telling a story. It turned out to be way harder than I could have imagined. You'd think writing a book wouldn't be that difficult, but it is. It's not so much the book that readers see that's hard to produce, it's the ideas and writing that get left on the cutting room floor. But beyond the actual stories, learning Photoshop to do my own covers, understanding how to market my books, learning how to create print versions, and a dozen other things really opened my eyes to how much effort is required to get a book to market. E-cigarettes: A PR battle Health Canada cannot win?

So I've now been using an e-cigarette (e-cig) for two months and thought I'd talk a bit about how I see the upcoming battle between Health Canada and e-cigs going. First though, let's do a quick overview of what exactly an e-cig is. Basically an e-cig vaporizes liquid that contains nicotine. The vapor is then inhaled. People who use e-cigs are called vapers (not smokers). Because the liquid is atomized (ie. vaporized), not burned the way tobacco is, vapers do not consider themselves 'smokers' in anyway. An e-cig is comprised of basically three components: The tank - this is the component that holds the juice (sometimes referred to as e-juice or e-liquid). The atomizer - this a coil and wick unit that atomizes the juice. When the coil is heated (from the battery) it atomizes the juice that has soaked into the wick.
