Now that I'm using FRAPS, which is great for capturing your desktop, you still need to enhance / edit the video once you are done (add additional audio, transitions, images, etc.).
The program I like for doing this is PowerDirector. It's really simple to learn how to use it and it renders final videos fairly quickly in a wide variety of formats. Below I've posted a video overview on some of PowerDirector's basic functions. Essentially just enough so that you could produce a video such as the ones I'm posting on this blog.
It's funny, when I was in school studying PR, the programs we worked with were Dreamweaver and QuarkXpress, primarily for Web site design and desktop publishing.
I hope today's students are getting an overview of programs that will super charge their ability to transport their message across multiple communications channels (audio, visual and video) beyond just Dreamweaver and QuarkXpress.
Some of the programs I would highly recommend every PR person knows how to use include:

- Youtube plug-ins for downloading YouTube video content

I'm sure there are other programs out there that are essential, but they basically are different ways of performing tasks associated with the above programs (it's just a matter of trying different programs out to figure out which ones are most suited to your usability profile).
